CCS Flash Interview:
What are your favourite 3 songs?
Favourite 3:
My favourite 3 tunes are:
My first choice ...Usher-RaymondMy way - UsherOn August 22, 2006, Usher took over the role of Billy Flynn in the long-running Broadway musical Chicago, and will continue in that role until October 14, Apart from myself he's simply the best and most talented song and dance man around. My second choice ...He made television history on the November 5, 1956, The Nat King Cole Show debuted on NBC-TV. the first African-American to host a network television show, the Cole program was the first of its kind hosted by a star of Nat Cole's magnitude. Initially begun as a 15 minute show on Monday night, the show was expanded to a half hour in July 1957. I love this particular track because each time I hear it Mr Cole's voice, is like chocolate melting in your mouth. My third choice ...Buffalo Soldier - Bob MarleyThe song recounted the true story of four post-Civil War regiments of the U.S. Army - the 9th and 10th Cavalry and the 24th and 25th Infantry. These units were composed of black privates under the command of white Oficers, who fought for a quarter century against the Cheyenne, Comanche, Kiowa, Apache, Ute and Sioux. In the end, fourteen key black campaigners, whom the Native Americans had dubbed "buffalo soldiers," Bob Marley, no doubt the best that there ever has been.(and for the record). My favourite song and the best band of all time,' Always' - Bon Jovi. (Any queries?) “Ahh c'monnn”!Calvin (Colardo Kid) Kara x x9/13/2006 CCS Team - Profiles - Lloyd FrontlineLloyd Frontline Radio Presenter/Producer Co-presenter - All fm BIGGA BREAKFAST SHOW Tuesday mornings 7:00 am - 9:00 am Listen online: http://www.allfm.org/public/listen_online.php I have been collecting and playing music since my school days (with lots of encouragement and support from my father), at age of thirteen me and my two older brother, began playing weekly reggae nights for under18’s at a club call Ashanti, on Stanley Grove, Longsight, Manchester. This was then to be repeated in various location including social clubs, church halls and youth clubs, setting the stage for the beginnings of my involvement in youth and community activities. It also supplied me, with the skills required in the art of making a crowd rock from the front, to the back row.
In the 80’s my, Infatuation with reggae music continued with me becoming a disciple of ‘Megatone Sound System’, beginning my apprenticeship as a Box Boy. It wasn’t long before I became the Technician, graduating to Operator and Selector, (Taking ‘Brooklyn Buoyark’ as my sound name).
On a cold wet Manchester evening in October 1989 a Community Radio Station with a difference was , together with two of my brothers (Hedley aka Ninja and Trevor aka Dan Man) along with some like mind friends we established Manchester’s first 24 hour All Reggae Music radio station ‘Frontline Radio’, (first station tagline “Frontline: It’s where the Action is”). The stations name and its first tagline “Frontline: It’s where the Action is”, came about as a direct response to the negative image Manchester, had acquired, particularly the area where I live, Moss Side, referred to by the media as Gun-chester. Our aim was to create a platform for many of the more positive elements of our community, so we started with what we knew. Frontline Radio’s philosophy was a simple one, ‘100% Reggae Music to The Maximum’, (station tagline) all things connected to reggae music and the culture surrounding it. Good and bad including all its sub-genres like: Mento, Ska, Rock Steady, Reggae... click here more on Frontline Radio I’m currently working as a Freelance Lecture/Radio Trainer, Liaising with community groups and volunteers.

“I believe, that the quality of our life is the quality of our communication and that’s why throughout my working life as a Disc Jockey, Voluntary worker, Postman, (I really Hated, that job) Personal Trainer or a Broadcaster. I have been in a position that has required me to be flexible when dealing with others, open to input and willing to consider potential alternatives, be wrong and change or start over”. This enables me, to take action that has meaning, purpose, and direction specific to the need.
I have over 15 years of experience as a Community broadcaster and as Community Productions/Events Organizer working with various community groups, including neighborhood groups, refugees and young people in deprived inner city areas of Manchester, England.

Mavis & Me Show
Fay, decided to make hitting 50 her own present to charity.
Birthday bash boosts charity BIRTHDAY gifts from the birthday girl: ALDERLEY business woman got the perfect present for her fiftieth birthday - a boost for the cancer fund she set up two years ago. Mum-of-two Fay Armstrong asked friends to ditch presents and consider a donation to GONC (Gynae Oncology), a trust fund for Macclesfield’s Cancer Unit. Fay set up the fund after she vowed to help the hospital that saved the life of herself and her daughter when she became ill during her first pregnancy 17 years ago. "It seemed like a good idea as, apart from tokens, what do you buy for someone my age? I’m sure my friends were pleased to be able to give me something I really wanted and I have to thank them very much as they were incredibly generous," said Fay. "As a trustee of GONC I’m kept aware of what happens to the money," she added. "It’s not a huge fund and, of course, needs adding to so there’s money available when needed." The fund was set up following an all star football fundraiser
in May 2004 in aid of the new Cancer Resource Centre at Macclesfield District General Hospital. A pool of money was put aside at the same time for the Gynae Cancer Research, or GONC fund.
This money is used to cut through red tape and to speed up the replacement of essential surgical equipment and finance medical and nursing education and research for the unit.
GONC has so far enabled two nurses to benefit from specialist training which would not otherwise have been possible without the support of those who attended the event, which featured the Coronation Street Allstars against the Sky One Dream Team.

The extra cash from Fay’s birthday bash means the pool of cash available is kept topped up. In 2002 Stevie was Joint Station Manager along with All fm’s Chris Sumner, at Moss Side & Hulme FM Stevie said “The trouble-free operation of the station itself was proof that the stereotype of Moss Side as a place so dangerous you can't walk down the street was totally baseless”. Moss Side & Hulme FM kicked off with a two-day public broadcast from the Zion Arts Centre in January 2002. "To give the residents a sense that it was their station, we put it where they couldn't miss it and where they could easily walk in off the street, bring a record down and introduce it and dedicate it to somebody." 2003 was a busy year for the Stevie with them facilitating Hulme FM in January and Moss Side FM during April, before coming together again for a grand three-week broadcast at the end of the year. The idea was this would give them the know-how to secure them a full-time licence through their application in November 2004, independent of Radio Regen. Moss Side & Hulme FM was been able to draw on a potent radio and musical legacy. This included a strong Afro- Caribbean identity, the area's place in the history of Manchester's globally-renowned music scene, and a once vibrant pirate radio culture which championed black music of all styles in the 1980s and 1990s. "It's a very multicultural area where people's talents are vastly underestimated. People need a platform to promote themselves, which is why pirates existed previously as people weren't given a chance. They've got so much positivity to give, so it's about time someone came along to give them the chance to be legal." Stevie has been involved in numerous other Community broadcast project in South Central Manchester, Carnival fm, TCR, Marley fm, Peace fm just to name a few. Stevie’s music taste include: - Soul / R’n’B / Jazz / Reggae /Calypso / Salsa 9/7/2006 CCS Team - Profiles - Michelle AckerleyMichelle
